Meridian Phone

Meridian phones are a type of business phones that were especially throughout the 1980s.  Throughout this time period, Meridian phones found their way into a lot of businesses.  This is because they have a lot of attractive features. How Meridian Phones Carved A Niche For Itself These phones were able to find a place for themselves when telephones went from being mechanical to electronic in nature.  Meridian phones were also able to take a lot of wear and tear, which is really important in a busy office setting.

This is why offices throughout the world, regardless of their size, all began using Meridian phones.  At first, these phones performed a function that other phones were unable to do.  They were able to support up to 192 lines, which most phones couldn’t do at that time. Incorporating A Digital Display Meridian phones were also one of the first to incorporate a digital display into their design.  Some of their other features also made Meridian phones a lot easier to use for business.  This included things like a quick reference card.

Their key system actually went on to replace the original key system that was developed by Northern Telecom. Incorporating Color-Coded Keys Meridian phones also had color-coded keys, which made it a lot easier for users to perform the tasks that they needed to do.  There was a red hold key and an orange release key, known as the RLS.  The RLS key was made in such a way that it would release without making any noise, which is especially important for those establishments that used their telephones on a regular basis for making announcements.

Just think about how annoying it would be, for both staff and customers alike, if there was an identifiable “click” every time an announcement needed to be made. Meridian Phones Today While there are a lot of great phones available on the market today, Meridian phones are still the best whenever it comes to usability and efficiency.  There is no doubt that Meridian phones came on the market and filled a niche when businesses needed it the most.

This allowed the phone to do quite well for itself, even when a lot of other types of communication methods came along.  Even with other comparable brands on the market today (i.e. Panasonic and Toshiba), the Meridian phone still is one of the most sought after.  So, it should come as no surprise that it is a familiar sight in many of the businesses and offices that are located around the world today.
